Solution Architecture is the practice of describing, designing, and building a design blueprint for a project that optimizes a solution for the intended business objectives and expected outcomes in a way that is architecturally sound, economically viable, operationally supportable and maintainable.  

  

Responsibilities  

  • Closely collaborates with multiple Business and IT project stakeholders and leaders, and senior business and IT SMEs to identify, to assess and document desired new business capabilities to be implemented and/or those existing but impacted  

  • Identifies impacts on critical operational processes, tool and technologies and data sources and risk associated with those impacts and options of how to mitigate and minimize those risks  

  • Identifies, analyzes and documents select, architecturally significant business use case scenarios and associated design considerations that need to be incorporated to ensure a solution that finds the optimum balance between the critical objectives of the project and needs of the enterprise operations at large for supportability, maintainability, and operational integrity   

  • Strives to maximize the re-use of investments made (people, process, services, technology, data, security) to increases quality, speed to market, and long-term economic viability of a solution   

  • Understands and can articulate the need to pursue not the perfect solution but rather best, most pragmatic solution that is the perfect fit for the customer’s needs and its environment   

  • Focuses on identifying and resolving critical design decisions, implementation risks, and long-term supportability and maintainability challenges early in the planning stage of the project that can result in budget overruns, delays, and post implementation support issues  

  • Collaborates extensively as appropriate with other client domain architects namely Business Architects, Application Architects, Data Architects, Infrastructure Architects, Security Architects, and Integration Architects during the development of the Solution Architecture Blueprint document   

  •  Ensures that developed solution is aligned to client’s formal (or defacto) architecture standards and principles, and leverages existing investments made whenever and wherever possible   

  • Accountable for driving buy, build, rent or re-use decisions for the project in alignment with and support of client’s immediate, short, and long-term needs and technology investment roadmaps  

  • Presents design recommendations objectively and in a way that will facilitate effective and timely decision-making through written and oral communication materials that effectively summarize findings  

  • Stays abreast of the current and emerging trends in the healthcare payer industry and emerging technologies, products   

  

Key Qualifications  

  • Highly tuned, excellent communication skills at all levels of a client organization and ability to present in verbal and written format in a clear, concise, and professional manner  

  • Minimum of 5 years of healthcare industry experience is essential   

  • At least 5 years of technical leadership role in delivering a project   

  • At least 5 years of direct experience in a formal Architect role  

  • At least 5 years of direct experience across all critical domains of IT function, namely application development, infrastructure, application and data integration, data and security as part of project delivery   

  • At least 3 years of direct experience with process automation, data integration and orchestration tools and technologies   

  • Ability to operate comfortably in environments with high degree of unknowns   

  • Savviness to manage and navigate around difficult situations and managing conflicts  

  • Ability to build strong working relationships across all levels of the enterprise and collaborating internally and externally  

  • Demonstrates very wide experience-driven knowledge of tools, technologies across multiple IT domains alongside with excellent knowledge of critical business capabilities and processes of healthcare payer industry   

  • Deep understanding of cloud-based technologies and services and how SaaS, PaaS and IaaS solutions can be a catalyst to accelerate innovation and delivery while generating cost efficiencies  

  • Experience applying architectural principles, methods, and tools to business challenges  

  • Experience understanding and assessing a client's current business and IT capabilities and operational challenges  

  • Solid understanding of design patterns   

  • Experience working within various delivery methodologies (Waterfall, Agile, SaFe, Hybrid) preferred

Education   

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent experience; four years of related experience can be used in lieu of a Bachelor's degree
